One such match of the FIFA World Cup is the battle between France and Mexico, which is scheduled on the 17th of June at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Ironically both the teams began their World Cup matches with a draw.
France drew the match against Uruguay in their previous game without scoring at all. Mexico played against host team South Africa and drew the match with both teams scoring a goal each.
Les Bleus could really be feeling the heat if they can’t continue their success against Mexico. Another poor effort Thursday in Polokwane could doom France to a repeat of its recent international flops, but Domenech’s side has never lost to El Tri in six meetings.
France followed its 1998 World Cup title on its home turf by failing to score a goal in South Korea in 2002, and it couldn’t advance beyond the group stage in Euro 2008 after making the 2006 World Cup final. After Friday’s 0-0 draw with Uruguay, memories of those letdowns are quickly re-emerging.
France’ defender Eric Abidal says that the upcoming match against Mexico is a must win and feels that their opposition are much stronger than Uruguay, so they cannot afford to take them lightly.
It is the same situation with Mexico as well; they need to win the match but goalkeeper Oscar Perez is expecting a less physical game with their new opposition.
It is test for Mexico though, as they France is an experienced team and is the 1998 World Cup winner and also runner-up in 2006. It is a tough game to predict.
